GMC HUMMER EV Charge Times

Hummer EV charge time will vary depending on the output of the charger you’re using. As an EV driver, you’ll encounter three main ways to charge: rapid, fast, and slow. Here’s how it breaks down:

Direct Current Fast Chargers

  • Rapid DCFC chargers have the highest kilowatt output, and they’re typically found at motorway services or locations near main routes. With a maximum output of 350 kW, they’re designed to get an EV battery to 80% in 20-40 minutes, and 100% in 60-90 minutes. Because of their extremely high power output, DCFCs are intended for commercial or industrial locations, not home garages.

Level 2 Charging

  • Level 2 or “fast” charging stations have an AC power output of anywhere between 3kW to 19 kW. This translates to around 18 to 28 Hummer EV miles per charge hour, and a full charge in eight hours or less. The most common type of EV charger among Hayward and other US drivers, L2 chargers are popular in public spaces like parking garages, grocery stores, malls, and hotels. They’re also what you find at many workplaces, and many EV drivers use them to charge up overnight.

Level 1 Charging

  • L1 chargers plug directly into a standard 120 volt (V) AC outlet. That’s an output of 1.3 kW to 2.4 kW, so you can expect a much slower charge time — equivalent to 3-5 Hummer EV miles per charge hour, and 30-50 miles of range for an eight-hour overnight charge. A full charge for an empty EV can take as long as 24 hours with an L1. You won’t typically find L1 chargers available for public use. However, it’s a good idea to stow an L1 in the glove compartment in case of an emergency.

Keep in mind that it’s not always easy to predict charging times to the minute. Aside from charging method and power output, the Hummer EV charge time may vary depending on a few other factors:

  • Vehicle specifications
  • Battery condition
  • Vehicle settings
  • Outside temperature
